Alpha lipoic acid

Alpha-lipoic acid is produced by the body and is found in every cell.  It is an antioxidant and helps convert glucose into energy.  Studies performed in animals and humans indicate that alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) increases insulin-stimulated glucose disposal, as well as being used to treat symptoms of nerve related disorders associated with diabetes ie. burning, pain and numbness in the arms and legs.
