Quercetin
Quercetin is a plant pigment (flavonoid) that gives color to many fruits, flowers, and vegetables.
Flavonoids such as quercetin, are powerful antioxidants that scavenge the body for free radicals that damage cell membranes, tamper with DNA and can even cause death to the cell. Antioxidants may reduce or prevent this damage and neutralize free radicals.
Other positive effects of quercetin include acting like an antihistamine and an anti-inflammatory by stabilizing the cells that release histamine into the body. This could in turn help protect against heart disease and cancer.
