Curcumin:

Turmeric comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant, and is a member of the ginger family.  Curcumin is the principal of three cucuminoids present in tumeric, which give tumeric its yellow color.

NF-κB controls many genes linked with inflammation and is notably active in many inflammatory diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, sepsis, gastritis, asthma and atherosclerosis.  Studies have shown that curcumin inhibits the transcription factor NF-κB and regulates the activity of several enzymes and cytokines by suppressing both COX-1 and COX-2.

Curcumin has been showing positive developments in cancer prevention primarily in its ability to induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cultured cancer cells by way of various mechanisms.

Due to curcumin’s poor bioavailability, high doses are required to achieve the desired blood levels.  Our supplement contains an innovative curcumin absorption system using curcumin BCM-95, which has been developed to distribute up to seven times more pharmacologically bioactive curcumin to the blood compared with commercial curcumin products.
